Painted Lady in all her glory…

Painted Lady in all her glory...
Good morning….=-) When I first came upon this scene of Painted Ladies on the Sedum plant, I was so happy to get this one, and the multiple b’flies together. Then something caught my eye, that being the fallen wing parts in the last photo posted here. Not knowing what happened, I began to look around and found the answer, much to my dismay. A Chinese Mantis…(not native to this Country)…was hanging upside down waiting for the next course of his meal! =-(

I watched as Lady after Lady flew in, sometimes in too-close proximity to danger. Eventually, all b’flies were safe that I photographed, and the Mantis moved on…..

Sorry for posting so many in the comment box, but wanted everyone to get the feel for the whole scenario that was before me, something that plays itself out every day without ever being seen.

Each photo is worthy of being seen in the LARGE SIZE for full appreciation. =-)

btw…the fallen wing segments are laying on Lemon Balm…which makes a wonderful Summertime herbal tea drink! =-)

In my current job at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital I have to buy lots of different things. These were some paint colour cards left over from when they were selecting colours for the maternity unit (these were the rejects).
